Robbing the Girl Scouts

Girl Scout Cookies

It’s that time of year when Girl Scouts start their annual cookie sales to raise money to pay for all those wonderful programs that help raise healthy, confident young women.

At least that’s the goal.

Unfortunately, the Girl Scouts have been taken over by grifters at the very top who siphon off the majority of the profits from the hard work of these young women.

Varying by state, local chapters receive anywhere from .40 to .75 from each box they sell. The difference at that level is dependent upon how much is being taken by the parent organizations at the state level. Everything above that is for the national program.

As Girl Scout camps are being closed around the country due to lack of funds to maintain them, pay taxes, etc., the top rung of the Girl Scout organization is stealing more and more of the take from the girl’s work. Last year, at their headquarters in New York, $65,000 worth of renovations were completed for the executive bathroom. For one person.

That money alone could have saved a few Girl Scout camps that have been sold off for private development. These are spectacular camps that were purchased before the population exploded and waterfront prices went lunar. They will never be able to buy them back and these kids will never get to experience the cry of a loon in the night or the beautiful silence of canoeing across a calm lake.

When she arrived in 2011, Anna Maria Chavez, the CEO of Girl Scouts, was paid $98,000 for October through December, a portion of an annual salary of $393,380. She also got $71,906 in “other compensation” that which included expenses to move to New Jersey and retirement-plan contributions.

The first things that every Girl Scout learns are the promise and the law.

Girl Scout Law
I will do my best to be

honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,

and to

respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.

Ms. Chavez probably laughs at the absurdity of the law every time she checks her bank balance. Honest and fair? Use resources wisely? Ha, that’s for chumps.

But maybe that’s her point. “It’s a dog eat dog world, kids, and you should learn that there are evil people all around just waiting to steal everything you have earned. Like me! Ha!”

It is an absolute shame what is being done to these girls by the national leaders. Maybe even the Girl Scouts need to start a revolution. They could start a grassroots campaign to overthrow their leadership and install a more equitable form of governing. How would that be for a civics lesson for our future leaders?

One item that should be on the top of their list is getting their headquarters out of New York. Of all the institutions that should be run out of a smaller city with ties to a more rural way of life, it’s the Girl Scouts. So, once they remove the blood-sucking vampires at the top, they should shut it down and move it to Topeka. Or Missoula. Or Burlington. Most places would be immensely proud to have such a renowned institution move to town. Imagine the savings and goodwill.

If you encounter any young ladies selling cookies this year, do them a huge favor and not only buy a few boxes, but give them a check/donation for their local chapter, one that can’t be snatched by the New York crew. That’s money they can use to get out and have an adventure they’ll always remember.

Should Cellphones be Banned in the Classroom?

Cell phones in class

As if the educational system is not hampered enough by the stupidity of leadership and their inability to make the correct decision concerning even the simplest issues, they find themselves drowning in a sea of decision paralysis.

Here’s the latest conundrum that is causing waves of dissension and hand-wringing among the idiots that manage our children’s education:

Educators can’t agree on whether cellphones in the classroom help or hinder education.

Even the most obtuse twit would spend about .5 seconds on this question, as it is not even worth thinking about. Cell phones are a constant distraction in any situation, and if there was ever a time to ban them from the premises, it is in the classroom. The fact that they are even allowed in some schools mystifies me, as I’m sure it does most parents, with the exception of the moronic, self-indulgent Kardashian type of parents.

Just a few years ago, a few intelligent professors banned laptops in the classroom and the results were dramatic increases in test scores. It’s a difficult concept to grasp, but I’m betting that most educators could wrap their brains around that one. Remove the distractions and kids will actually learn something.

The millenials have tried to dupe their elders in to believing the ludicrous idea that they have somehow mastered multi-tasking where every other generation has failed. As if their special, hate-speech protected, coddled brains have unlocked the mystery of simultaneous processing of tinder posts and organic chemistry. It’s absurd and the only ones other than lazy, moronic teachers to believe that garbage are the kids themselves.

In the previously referenced article, one professor found that the laptop users in his class scored the same as kids who skipped class altogether. Case closed.

Finally, this calls in to question the teacher’s and/or administrator’s failure of basic judgment, common sense and reasoning abilities required for their positions in education and it should be reviewed closely by those paying their salaries.

Obama Using Health System to Limit 2nd Amendment

Yesterday, the Obama administration finalized a rule that enables health care providers to report the names of mentally ill patients to an FBI firearms background check system. On the face, this seems reasonable considering the horror that we’ve witnessed from Sandy Hook, Aurora and other massacres at the hands of extremely mentally ill people.

The problem with this approach is that the 2nd amendment becomes the property of healthcare providers. The vast majority of physicians are anti-gun, and from some seminars that I’ve witnessed, they are almost universally aligned with the left in their goal of total gun confiscation and repeal of the second amendment. Almost lockstep in their opposition, they will certainly work to forward their agenda through these changes in the law. Like our education system, the health care system is also dominated by leftist dogma.

A simple example of this would be a motivated physician turning in anyone who he or she knows owns a gun, reporting that they witnessed possible mental health issues during care. And what’s to stop any one of these extreme leftist docs from providing false information to the federal government in order to have your rights denied to you? Nothing, really. Knowing how transparent these federal entities are, I can’t fathom any problems that might result from such reporting.

Shouldn’t they report any individual who is on some type of psychotropic drug, since that is the one contributing factor in every mass shooting with the exclusion of Islam? Unfortunately though, If you report to your health care provider that you’re depressed because your son just died in a car accident and that you need a little short term help with coping, you could end up on the permanently banned list, or worse, have your guns seized from your home due to your “dangerous” condition, even though like any normal person, you get over the pain in time.

Sadly, this places health care providers in a confrontational position with their patients, as no gun owner with an ounce of gray matter would ever admit to owning a gun when questioned in the clinic. First of all, it’s none of their business, but they see it as an important health care item to use in the patient assessment. Their dogmatic concept of health care includes gun ownership in the same class as smoking and they long ago declared endless war on smoking.

Of course, if Obama truly cared about the safety of the American people, he would require that every Muslim be placed on the list, as they present the most clear and present threat to public safety, but since his administration’s policy is to import as many of these terrorists as possible, that isn’t going to happen.
